ALICE HOWELL NELSON




Alice Howell Nelson, 55, of Hayesville died Wednesday (April 5, 2006) in a Murphy hospital. A native of Yancey County, she had been living in Clay County since 1962. She was the daughter of the late Phillip Jesse and Verna Deyton Howell. She retired after 22 years as a teller and customer service representative with Wachovia Bank in Hayesville. Alice was a member of the Hayesville First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are the husband, R. L. Nelson; two daughters, Jeanne Coker Davis and husband, Casey of Hayesville and Amy Coker Dills and husband, Greg of Hendersonville, NC; one son, John Phillip Coker and wife, Meagan of Candler, NC; one step-daughter, Sandy Chastain and husband, Mitchell of Hayesville; two sisters, Brenda Sellers and husband, Jackie and Donna Crowell and husband, Glenn all of Hayesville; two brothers, Greg Howell and wife, Mary Ruth of Charleston, SC and Owen Howell and wife, Fran of Marble; three granddaughters, Sydney Davis, Katherine Davis, and Haley Coker; and two step-grandchildren, Brandon and Brittany Chastain.

Memorial services at 7:00 PM Friday (April 7) in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jackie Sellers, Greg Howell, and Kirk Hatherly officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Alice Howell Nelson to the Hayesville First United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 85, Hayesville, NC 28904.
