DOCIA GALLOWAY THOMPSON

DOCIA  GALLOWAY  THOMPSON   Docia Galloway Thompson, 86, of Hayesville died Tuesday (April 25, 2006) in Keller, TX.  A native of Union County, GA, she had lived in Cherokee and Clay Counties for most of her life.  She was the daughter of the late Francis P. and Fair Mashburn Galloway and the wife of the late John A. Thompson, who died March 3, 2004.  After finishing cosmetology school in Atlanta, she moved to Hiawassee and opened the first beauty shop and continued to work for 30 years.  She was a member of the Hayesville First United Methodist Church.  Throughout her life, Docia was known for her gifts of love, empathy, and friendship.  She was an extraordinary mother and grandmother who valued her family and friends above all.    She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Thompson.   Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Shore of Keller, TX;  a son, Tom Thompson and his wife, Anne of Savannah, GA;  a sister, Susie Kimsey of Cumming, GA;  and three grandchildren, Tim Shore, Stephanie Shore, and Kat Thompson.   Funeral services at 2:00 PM Sunday (April 30) in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kirk Hatherly officiating.  Burial in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 Sunday afternoon at the Hayesville First United Methodist Church prior to the services.   The family requests memorials be made in memory of Docia Galloway Thompson to the Hayesville First United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 85, Hayesville, NC 28904.   Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville in charge of all arrangements.
