GEORGE W. LAMBERT

George W. Lambert, 76, of Aquone died Friday (April 21, 2006) in an Asheville, NC hospital. A native of Macon County, he had lived in many places following his work before returning to Macon County in 1977. He was the son of the late Thomas Osborne and Ollie May Lambert. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Army. He was a hard rock miner having worked for many years in California and many other locations. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and beekeeping and he was an avid Braves fan.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Neal Lambert; a daughter, Sue Naumann and husband, John of Henderson, NV; a son, Larry Lambert and wife, Sheila of Henderson, NV; two grandchildren, Jennifer Hillman and husband, Billy and Lisa Lambert; four great grandchildren, Cali and Michael Hillman and Sadie and J.T. Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services at 11:00 AM Monday (April 24) in the Little Choga Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Lambert officiating and military graveside rites conducted by the Andrews VFW Post 7620. Pallbearers: Gary and Brian Lambert, Tim and Roy West, Jason Clark, and Josh Fulford.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in loving memory of George W. Lambert to the Nantahala Voluntary Fire and Rescue, 19036 Wayah Road, Aquone, NC 28781.
