RUBY DERREBERRY
Ruby Derreberry, 94, of Marble died Sunday, April 30, 2006 in an Andrews care facility. A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Martha Elizabeth Lunsford Derreberry. For many years Ruby and her brother Zeb were custodians of the Murphy Elementary School. She had also worked for the Ivie family for 56 years and had also worked for Parkers Drug Store, King's Drug Store, and Wachovia Bank. She was a member of the Marble Springs Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie Darling and Willie Harden; and five brothers, Zeb, Lee, Charlie, Sid, and Frank Derreberry.
Surviving are a brother, Mackie Derreberry of Dalton, GA; one special nephew, James Derreberry and wife, Kate of Marble; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Rev. Homer Wilson officiating. Burial in the Moss Cemetery. Pallbearers: Gerald Roger, and Dean Derreberry, Ryan Breazeale, Charles Chance, and Jarrett Pack.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
The family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Ruby Derreberry to the Marble Springs Baptist Church, 109 Church Street, Marble, NC 28905.
