CHESTER LEE “Chink” ALLEN

Chester Lee “Chink” Allen, 77, of Murphy died Monday (April 9, 2007) at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Luther Wilde and Edith Fair Allen and the step-son of Annie Mae Allen. He was the husband of the late Patricia Ann Moore Allen. He had worked for several years for Vincent Stiles Feed Store and later for Stiles Grocery Store and Furniture Store. He was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jim Allen; a daughter, Janie Allen; and two brothers, Luther Edward Allen and Walter Felix Allen.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Ann “Crickett” Brown and Mary Helen Allen both of Asheville; three sons, Paul Douglas “Yogi” Allen of Andrews, and Raymond Edward “Tootie” Moore and John Robert “Satch” Allen both of Murphy; nine sisters, Judy Colbert, Selma Jackson, Betty Colbert, Mattie Ann Brown, Ruby Allen, Zulia Mae Allen, and Beverly Allen all of Murphy, Margaret Moore of Fontana, CA, and Evelyn Colbert of Compton, CA; seven brothers, Johnny Allen of Andrews, Martin Allen and Preston Allen both of Commerce, GA, Frank Allen of Columbus, GA, Charles Allen of Fontana, CA, and Steve Owen and Oscar Allen both of Murphy; 14 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Friday (April 13) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Bruce Oliver officiating. Interment in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Tim and Barry Allen, Bill Sudderth, Kagney Carr, and Bo and Zeke Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
