SARAH ELIZABETH  BARNES
 

Sarah Elizabeth Barnes, 91, of Andrews died Monday (April 16, 2007) in an Andrews care facility.  A native of Macon County, she had lived most of her life in Cherokee County. She was the daughter of the late James and Nancy Lee Passmore and the wife of the late Robert Lee Barnes, who died Feb. 16, 1987. She was a homemaker and a loving mother.
 
Surviving are two daughters, Lois Gibby and husband, John and Marrita Rathbone and husband, Vincent all of Marble; a son, R.L. Barnes of Waynesville; and ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services at 7:00 PM Wednesday (April 18) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Rev. Jerry Beavers officiating. Interment at 10:00 AM Thursday (April 19) in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers:  Chris, Paul, and Doug Lovingood, Jeffrey Gibby Jr., Phillip West, and Dwight Hardin.
 
The family will receive friends from 5-6:45 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Sarah Elizabeth Barnes to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, Mountain Region Office, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644.
