SARA “MA” PULLIUM

Sara “Ma” Pullium, 87, of Andrews died Saturday (April 21, 2007) in a Murphy hospital. She was a native of Buncombe County, but had lived in Cherokee County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Sallie Mae Whisenhunt Taylor and was the wife of the late Grady Pullium, who died May 22, 1998. She had worked for Berkshire and later retired from Owenby Manufacturing. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Andrews Chapter #15 and the Andrews United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Robert Pullium and wife, Martha of Andrews; two sisters, Ruth Pritchard and husband, Tom of Phoenix, AZ and Jean Mathis and husband, Gerald of Andrews; a brother, Daniel Taylor of Andrews; three grandchildren, Angie Mayfield and husband, James, Kathy Hardin and husband, Herman, and Robbin Raxter and husband, Michael all of Andrews; four great grandchildren, Melissa Koehler, Robert Mayfield, Dakota Gibby, and Brody Raxter; and Sara was expecting her first great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services at 11:00 AM Monday (April 23) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Rev. Harry Hawk officiating. Interment in the Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers: Robert Mayfield, Michael Raxter, Herman Hardin, Henry Burrell, Jim Mathis, and Richard Mathis.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
The family requests memorials be made in memory of Sara “Ma” Pullium to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, Mountain Regional Office, 31 College Place, Ste D320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644.
