CLARK DOUGLAS “BUTCH” HEIN

Clark Douglas “Butch” Hein, 66, of Marble died Thursday (April 10, 2008) at his residence.  A native of New London, NH, he had lived there for the first 18 years of his life and also lived in Brevard, NC and Wilmot, NH before moving to Marble in 2004.  He was the son of the late George A. and Dorothy Algar Hein.  Butch graduated from New London High School in 1959 and he received his bachelor degree from the University of New Hampshire in Durham in 1964.  He served as a captain in the United States Army during Vietnam.  He was a pilot and a Purple Heart recipient.  He was a Plant Safety Supervisor with Dupont Chemical Company, retiring in 1991. He attended the Andrews United Methodist Church.
 
Surviving are his wife, Linda Hein; a daughter, Kristi Hein Pollman and husband, Dr. Dan Pollman of Mobile, AL; a son, Daniel Hein and wife, Cindy Hein of Memphis, TN; a step-daughter, Julie Carleton and husband, Mike Carleton of Dunstable, MA; two step-sons, Daniel Miller and wife, Mary Miller of Manchester, NH and Ben Miller and wife, Andrea Miller of Quincy, MA; a sister, Ellen Watson and husband, Roger of Kaneohe, HI; and three grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
 
Memorial services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday (April 19) in the Andrews United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Hacklander officiating.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Clark Douglas Hein to the Andrews United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Drawer 1310, Andrews, NC 28901or the Valley River Humane Society, 7450 US 19, Marble, NC 28905.
