JOYCE “RED” GRANT


 

Joyce “Red” Grant, 81, of Hiawassee, GA died Friday (April 25, 2008) in a Towns County hospital. She was a native of Clay County, but had lived in Hiawassee for the past 25 years. She was the daughter of the late Henry Robert and Elzia Pearl Watson Buchanan and the wife of the late W.T. “Buck” Grant, who died April 7, 1998. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Meadow Grove Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Danny Grant, who died August 6, 1982.
 
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Lou Wilson of Douglasville, GA; two sisters, Esta Berrong of Hiawassee and Lillie Lunsford of McDonough, GA; two brothers, L.D. Buchanan of Blairsville, GA and James Buchanan of Hiawassee; and three grandchildren, Sherry Wilson of Villa Rica, GA, Johnny Ledford of Mt. Airy, GA, and Teresa Boswell of Brighton, TN;  and a great grandson and six step-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Monday (April 28) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Interment was in the Hayesville Baptist/Presbyterian Cemetery. Pallbearers were Johnny, Jeremy, and Jamey Ledford, Terry Wilson, Bruce Berrong, and Aaron Beck.
 
The family received friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.
