KENNETH JONES

Kenneth Jones, 81, of Andrews died Friday (April 25, 2008) at his residence. He was a native of Cherokee County where he had lived most of his life. He was the son of the late Pen and Mamie Spivey Jones. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army in the European Theatre. Kenneth worked as an automotive and heavy equipment mechanic for many years and later retired after 30 years as a shop foreman for the NC Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge # 529 and the Beaver Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Thelma Allison Jones; three daughters, Louise Stewart of Augusta, GA, Carolyn Moore and husband, Vance of Waynesville, and Diane West and husband, Roger of Andrews; two sons, David Jones and wife, Billie of Dillsboro, NC, and Terry Jones and wife, Glenda of Murphy; a sister, Patricia Jones of Andrews; and 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a great, great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday (April 27) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Revs. Eric Jones and Edward “Bo” Phillips officiating. Interment in the Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jerry Brooks, Jason Queen, Glen Barnett, Junior Smith, and Phillip and Stanley Gibson. Honorary pallbearers: Arnold Clark and Bill Stiles
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:45 Sunday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.
The family requests memorials may be made in loving memory of Kenneth Jones to the Beaver Creek Freewill Baptist Church, PO Box 1943, Andrews, NC 28901.
