MAGGIE HARDIN

Maggie Hardin, 86, of Andrews died Saturday (April 5, 2008) in an Andrews care facility. A native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Hardy and Elizabeth Taylor White and the wife of the late Gurley Hardin, who died January 4, 1995. Maggie had worked 24 years for Berkshire Industries and was a member of the Valleytown Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Leon Hardin; a sister, Madge Postell; and two brothers, Walter and Claude White.
Surviving are a grandson, Leon Dwight Hardin and wife, Tira of Andrews; three sisters, Emma Hogan and husband, Dick, Dixie Parker and husband, Muss, and Lillie Mae Goins all of Andrews; and two half-sisters, Doris Birchfield and Iris Plemmons both of Murphy.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Wednesday (April 9) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Rev. Eddie Hardin officiating. Interment was in the Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were George and Pat Postell, and Eddie, Joe, Robbie, and Muss Parker. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Postell, John and Jeff Gibby, Marvin Cutshaw, and Benji Plemmons.
The family received friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Maggie Hardin to the Valleytown Cemetery Chapel, PO Box 994, Andrews, NC 28901.
