MABLE OWENSBY

Mable Owensby, 80, of Andrews died Tuesday (April 15, 2008) in a Murphy medical center. A native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late John Frank and Myrtle Garrett Nichols and the wife of the late Harvey Owensby, who died February 24, 1991. Mable worked for Berkshire Knitting Mills for many years and was a member of the Valley River Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Carter.

Surviving are a daughter, Marie Carolyn Head of Andrews; a sister, Frances Burke of Andrews; a brother, John Frank Nichols Jr. of Andrews; a granddaughter, Lisa Hill and husband, Tim; and four great grandchildren, Stephen and Jessica Crisp and Robert and Jessica Hill.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Thursday (April 17) in the Valley River Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Phillips officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Stephen Crisp, Robert Hill, Pete Nichols, Todd Hicks, and Rolin and Jack Phillips.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 Thursday afternoon at the Valley River Baptist Church prior to the services.
