WANDA PRICE GALLOWAY
Wanda Price Galloway, 76, of Hayesville died Saturday (April 12, 2008). She was a native of McDowell County, NC, but had lived most of her life in Brevard County, FL and Knoxville, TN before moving to Clay County in 1979. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Edgar C. and Gertrude Greene Price. She was a graduate of Greensboro College. Wanda had taught high school for 17 years, worked for Hinton Rural Life Center as a church and community worker, and became a pastor in the early 1990’s for two United Methodist churches in Yancey County, NC. She was a member of the Hayesville First United Methodist Church where she served as organist. She was well known for her support of the arts including Licklog Players and Clay County Historical and Arts Council.
Surviving are one daughter, Allyson Kraft of Lenoir City, TN; two sons, David C. Galloway and Patrick C. Galloway both of Hayesville; a brother, Charles F. Price of Burnsville, NC; and two grandsons, Austin Kraft and Dustin Kraft.
A Celebration of Life was held at 6:00 PM Wednesday (April 16, 2008) in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Kirk Hatherly and Guinnell Hunter officiating.
The family received friends following the service at 894 Jarrett Road, the former residence of James Price.
