VIVIAN POWELL STILES Vivian Powell Stiles, 74, of Winston, GA died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at her residence after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late “Dude” and Bonnie Powell and the wife of the late Louie Stiles. She was a graduate of Ducktown High School. Vivian was a homemaker for most of her life, working later with her husband in his commercial repair business. Vivian was a favorite aunt of all her nieces and nephews. She was known for never meeting a stranger. She was an avid shopper, decorator, and southern cook. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Powell; and a sister, Jackie Gibbs. Surviving are two daughters, Debi Weatherford and husband, Gary of Douglasville, GA and Angie Sutton and husband, David of Villa Rica, GA; two sons, Charles “Chuck” Stiles and wife, Cindy of Conyers, GA and Andrew “Andy” Stiles and wife, Janice of Cumming, GA; two sisters, Betty Nicholson and husband, Reed Jr. and Patricia Panter and husband, Don all of Turtletown, TN; three brothers, Lloyd Powell and wife, Linda of Cleveland, TN, Mike Powell and wife, Ann of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and David Powell and wife, Cindy of Knoxville, TN; and eight grandchildren, Tyson, Adam, and Seth Weatherford, Corey Stiles, Shawn and Andy Jones, and Kalyn and Paige Sutton. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 4 in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Armstrong officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve, Mike, Eric, and Matt Stiles, Bill Gibbs, Johnny Powell, and Michael Panter. The family received friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy where the body was until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Vivian Powell Stiles to the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Charles Boring, 496 Cliff Raper Road, Murphy, NC 28906 or the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3585 Hwy. 685, Turtletown, TN 37391.
