HANNAH ELIZABETH BURGESS

Hannah Elizabeth Burgess, 91, of Cumming, GA died Saturday (Aug. 20, 2005) in a Forsyth County, GA care facility. A native of Lafayette, IN, she had moved to Andrews in 1971 and then to Georgia in 1989. She was the daughter of the late Ralph Wesley and Leeta Dunlavy Houk and the wife of the late James Paul Burgess, who died May 22, 1995. She was a teacher with the Tildenville Elementary School, retiring after 31 years of teaching. She was a member of the Alpharetta First Baptist Church in Alpharetta, GA. She also taught a Bible study class for 15 years in Andrews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Ruth Ford; and a son, James Paul Burgess, Jr.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Hinrichs and husband, Scott of Cumming, GA; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Hinrichs, Douglas Donald Ford, and Donna Ford Gober.
Funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday (Aug. 24) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Rev. David Brown officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Dick Higdon, Joe and Bill Mintz, Michael Creasman, Frank Jones, and Jeffrey Hinrichs.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Hannah Elizabeth Burgess to the American Cancer Society, Cherokee County Chapter, P.O. Box 1151, Murphy, NC 28906 or to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 164, Murphy, NC 28906.
