HELEN WALKER
Helen Walker, 83, of Murphy died Saturday (August 25, 2007) in a Murphy medical center. A native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred W. and Cora Payne Green and the wife of the late Hoyt J. Walker, who died September 1, 2002. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ranger Baptist Church, and she was a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Helen enjoyed gardening, quilting, and sewing.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lurlie Brockman, Millie King, and Bonnie King.
Surviving are two daughters, Audrea McBrayer and husband, J.B. of Cleveland, TN, and Shelley Cavender and husband, John of Murphy; a son, Earl Walker and wife, Belinda of Brasstown; a sister, Emma Haney of Murphy; a brother, Herman Green of Murphy; and five grandchildren, Jason McBrayer, Alicia Lewis, Cortney Walker, Terry Laney, and Melanie Estes, and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services at 11:00 AM Tuesday (Aug. 28) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Rev. Doug Howard officiating. Interment in the Ranger Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jason McBrayer, Craig Lewis, Terry Laney, Ashley and Greg Graham, and Alan Bryant.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
