MAE  MASHBURN


 

Mae Mashburn, 88, of Marble died Wednesday (August 8, 2007) in a Murphy medical center.  A native of Swain County, she had lived in Haywood County for most of her married life before moving to Cherokee County 15 years ago.  She was the daughter of the late Mart and Mandy Dills Tabor and the wife of the late Garland Mashburn, who died July 17, 2001. She retired after 32 years as an inspector with Wellco Shoe Plant in Hazelwood, NC.  Mae was of the Baptist faith.
 
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Campfield and husband, Chuck of Swannanoa, NC, Wanda Russ of Marble, and Rena Mashburn of Franklin, NC;  a son, Tony Mashburn and wife, Tammy of Deatsville, AL;  and nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a great great grandson.
 
Graveside services at 11:00 AM Friday (Aug. 10) in the Bethel Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Lewis Welch officiating.  Pallbearers:  Marc and Chris Smart, and Tim, Jeff, Bobby, and Tommy Gibson.
 
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
 
The family requests memorials be made in memory of Mae Mashburn to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, Mountain Region Office, 31 College Place, Suite D-320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644.
