PEARL WOODARD

Pearl Woodard, 101, of Murphy died Thursday (August 9, 2007) in an Andrews care facility. A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late John Milton and Rosa Lee Clonts McNabb. She was a school teacher with Polk County, TN and Cherokee County School Systems retiring in 1975 after 43 years of service. She was a member of the Murphy First Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School for 25 years. She also taught Sunday School for 22 years at Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Matie Lou Duvall and Ruth Walker; and four brothers, Clyde, Clifford, Guy, and Ersa McNabb.
Surviving are two daughters, Ruth W. Isley and husband, Gordon of Burlington, NC and Anna Bobo and husband, George of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Teresa Westbrook, Randy Kent, Lisa Mills, Matt Woody, and David Bobo; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Sunday (Aug. 12) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Harold Stiles, Greg Swain, and Michael McNabb officiating. Interment in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Edwin James, Bill Hughes, Jeff Swain, Chad McNabb, David Payne, Matt Woody, Robert Payne, and Daniel McNabb. Honorary pallbearers: Bill Stansel, Larry McNabb, Lonnie Hoover, and Joe Swain.
The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 Sunday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Pearl Woodard to the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o T.L. McNabb, 186 Friendship Church Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
