VINCENT “BILL” HUSKINS
Rance Vincent “Bill” Huskins,
83, of Marble died Friday, December 5, 2003 at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, he was
a son of the late James Robert and Artie Almond Huskins.
He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army.
He was a farmer and had retired from the North Carolina
Department of Transportation. Bill was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Mae Johnson Huskins; a daughter, Kathy
Huskins Piercy and her husband, John R. of Andrews; four sons, Warren L.
Huskins and Larry B. Huskins, both of Marble, Randle P. Huskins and his
wife, Donna Edmonds Huskins of Sylva, and Keith Huskins and his wife, Cathy
Raxter Huskins of Andrews; three sisters, Flonnie Wilson of Marble, Pearl
Morgan of Tampa, FL, and Opal Key of Marietta, GA; a brother, Raleigh Huskins
of Charlotte, NC; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services at 11:00 AM Monday (Dec. 8) in the Mount Zion Baptist
Church with the Rev. Fred Lunsford officiating. Burial in the Huskins family
cemetery. Pallbearers: Eddie, Brandon, and Joseph Huskins, Tony and Chris
Dillard, and Clinton Messer. William Palmer and Kenneth Higgins will serve
as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Sunday evening (Dec. 7)
at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy where the body will be until placed in
the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family requests memorials may be made to the Mount Zion Baptist Church,
