Chloe
Latta, 63, of Nantahala died Tuesday (Dec. 16, 2003) in
a Murphy hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Macon
County, she was the daughter of Myrtle Grant Shields of
Nantahala and the late Emmett Shields and the wife of the
late Raymond Latta, who died in 1997. She was a homemaker
and a member of the Briartown Baptist Church. She was preceded
in death by a brother, Steven Shields.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a daughter, Stacey Hedrick and husband,
Shane of Robbinsville; a son, John Latta of Nantahala; four sisters, Margaret
Mathis of Nantahala, Rebecca Grant of Granite Falls, NC, Mary Ann Robinson of
Cherryville, NC, and Norma Jean Pearson of Citra, FL; two brothers, Willard Shields
of Kings Mountain, NC and Cecil Shields of Hickory, NC; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services at 11:00 AM Saturday (Dec. 20) in the Briartown Baptist Church
with the Rev. S.J. Waters officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers:
Chris Shields, Sammy Holloway, Scott Selby, Scott Robinson, Jim Dawson, and Grady
Davis.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home,
Andrews where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to
the services.
