EVELYN A. THOMAS


Evelyn A. Thomas, 83, of Hayesville died Monday (Dec. 22, 2003) at her residence. A native of Madison County, IA, she had lived in this area since 1967. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Asenath Henderson Standing and the wife of the late Byron Thomas, who died in 1955. She was a homemaker and an artist. She was a member of the AARP of Hiawassee, GA, the Hayesville Presbyterian Church, and the Society of Friends “Quakers” in Barneville, OH.
 
 She was preceded in death by her sister, Bertha Osborne.
 
 Surviving are two daughters, Rachel Baughn of Hayesville and Sylvia Evelyn Thomas of Columbus, OH; two sons, John Thomas of Cary, NC and David Thomas of Arlington, WA; four sisters, Florence Guindon of Lodi, OH, Helen Spriegel of Gallipolis, OH, Gladys Bierma of DeMoines, IA, and Lucille Guindon of Monteverde, Costa Rica; two brothers, Henry Standing of Cambridge, MA and Harold Standing of Ankeny, IA; and three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
 
 Memorial services at 3:00 PM Friday (Dec. 26) in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Hayesville.
 
 In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Olney Friends School, 61830 Sandy Ridge Road, Barnesville, OH 43713.
