Ruth Sappenfield,
91, of Andrews died Friday, December 12, 2003 in
a Murphy hospital. A native of Westbourne, Manitoba,
but had lived most of her life in Wilmington, IN,
and Kansas City, KS, before moving to Andrews in1999.
She was the daughter of the late Fred and Cora Gessell
Busse. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing for
her family and church. She was a member of Our Saviour
Lutheran Church in Kansas City, KS, where she was
active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
Also, she was a member of the Mercy Club of Kansas
City.
She was
preceded in death by a great grandson, Adam Griggs.
Surviving
are her husband of 67 years, James L. Sappenfield;
two daughters, Kathy Adams and her husband, Harold
of Andrews, and Carol Louise Schimke and her husband,
John of West Hills, CA; a sister, Frieda L. Bateman
of Sun City, AZ; five grandchildren, Art Schimke
and his wife, Gail Ann of Canoga Park, CA, Kent Schimke
and his wife, Barbara of San Lorenzo, CA, Tim Schimke
and his wife, Allison of Winnetka, CA, April Griggs
and her husband, Donnie of Andrews, and Ted Adams
and his wife, Brandy of Andrews; and six great grandchildren.
Memorial
services at 4:00 PM Wednesday (Dec. 17) in the Saint
Andrew Lutheran Church with the Rev. George Simmons
officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in
Green Lawn Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.
The family
will receive friends in the fellowship hall following
the services.
In lieu
of flowers the family requests memorials be made
to the Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 4153 Rainbow
Blvd, Kansas City, KS 66103.
