DELLA MAE GRIFFITH

Della Mae Griffith, 95, of Murphy died Sunday (Dec. 5, 2004) in a Murphy medical center. A native of Towns County, GA, she had lived in Cherokee County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Odell and Daisy Ramey Powell and the wife of the late Will Henson, who died in 1941 and the late Fred Griffith, who died in 1980. She was a homemaker and an avid gardener. Della Mae was a member of the Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Doyle Henson, her longtime caregiver, of the home and Verlon Henson and his wife, Anna Ruth of Johnson City, TN; three sisters, Fairleen Melton of Hiawassee, GA, Maudeen Bradley of Marietta, GA, and Betty Helton of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Odell Powell, Jr. of Copperhill, TN; a grandson, Perry Henson of Johnson City, TN; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services at 2:00 PM Tuesday (Dec. 7) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Dr. Chester Jones officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Freddie Carson, Perry and Dustin Henson, and James, Jesse, and Blake Melton.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 Tuesday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
