HAROLD MASON

HAROLD MASON

Harold Mason of Topton died Sunday, December 12, 2004 in a Graham County care center. A native of Macon County, but he had lived in Cherokee County for most of his life. He was the son of the late Royal A. and Bertha Gregory Mason. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Sergeant in the United States Army. Harold had worked in construction and later worked as a carpenter and a stone mason. He was a member and deacon of the Red Marble Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan and had participated in sports, including boxing in the Army, and table tennis. Harold loved all his family dearly.

He was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Mason who died February 23, 1994.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Bobbie Postell Mason; a daughter, Leslie Mason Henry and husband, Keith of Andrews; a special nephew who grew up in the home, Randy Mason of Pell City, AL; a sister, Jean Gibson of Bethlehem, GA; a brother, DeWitt Mason of Topton; and three grandchildren, Candice Mason, Colby Orr, and Skee Orr.

Funeral services at 7:00 PM Monday (Dec. 13) in the Red Marble Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis Welch, Rev. Mickey Stewart, Rev. Daniel Stewart, and Maeburl Tincher. Interment will be Tuesday morning in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Colby and Skee Orr, Randy and Ron Mason, Doug Postell, and Gary Solesbee.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:45 Monday evening at the Red Marble Baptist Church prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Red Marble Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Martha Postell, 1201 Red Marble Rd, Andrews, NC 28901 or to the H. Lynn Mason Scholarship Fund, c/o United Community Bank, Andrews, NC 28901.
