ROALD
D. HEDDEN
Roald D. Hedden, 91, of Hayesville died Thursday (Dec. 23, 2004) in a Murphy
medical center. A native of Towns County, GA, he had lived in Clay County for
most of his life. He was the son of the late Paul and Belle Crawford Hedden and
the husband of the late Buena "Brownie" Brown Hedden. He was a veteran
of the US Army. He was a graduate of Western Carolina Teacher's College and taught
for 38 years in elementary education for the Clay County School System. He was
a member of the Clay Masonic Lodge No. 301 and the Hayesville First United Methodist
Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Charlene Cook and husband, John
of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Paul Hedden and wife, Suzanne
of Hayesville; a brother, Robert Alexander of Hayesville;
and three grandchildren, Alison and Austin Hedden, and
Jason Cook.
Memorial services at 3:00 PM Sunday (Dec. 26) in the Hayesville
First United Methodist Church with Dr. Pete Taylor officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2-2:50 Sunday afternoon
in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church prior to
the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made
to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter,
Mountain Region Office, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville,
NC 28801-2644 or the American Cancer Society, Clay County
Chapter, PO Box 1193, Hayesville, NC 28904
