ROBERT G. "TOO SHY" SHELTON

Robert G. "Too Shy" Shelton, 52, of Hayesville died Saturday, December 18, 2004. A native of Transylvania County, NC, he had lived most of his life in Clay County. He was the son of Johnnie M. and Louise Shipman Shelton. He was a 1970 graduate of Hayesville High School. Robert had worked as a deputy for the Clay County Sheriff's Department, a heavy equipment operator, and was a finish carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith. Robert was an avid outdoor sportsman, which included hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved picking music with all his friends.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a daughter, Tiffany Anne Shelton of Hayesville; a brother, Rev. Charles Shelton of Hayesville; and three nieces, Tessa Sellers of Hayesville, Carissa Shelton of Leicester, NC, and Marissa Shelton of Spartanburg, SC.

Funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday (Dec. 22) in the Moss Memorial Baptist Church with Revs. Keith Nuckolls and Eddie Duckworth officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Joe Jack Sellers, Rob Peck, Jerry York, Bobby Layne Deese, Mike Garrett, and Ricky Dixon. Stan Robertson, Jimmy Russell, Jerry Parker, Dennis Curtis, Ronnie Davis, Barry Hughes, and Dr. Greg Cranford as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Tiffany Shelton College Fund, State Employee's Credit Union, 544 Ingles Shopping Center, Murphy, NC 28906.
