Voneata Howard Witt, 74, of Murphy died Friday, December 30, 2005 in a Murphy Medical Center. She was a native of Cherokee County where she had lived most of her life. Voneata was of the Baptist faith. She was a daughter of the late Alonzo and Doris Jones Howard. She was preceded in death by six brothers, G.A., Castelle, Elton, Kell, J.B., and an infant twin brother. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Robert “Bob” Witt; three daughters; a sister, Fern Davis; a brother, Vaughn Howard; four grandchildren, and many other relatives. Funeral services at 2:00 PM Monday (January 2) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Rev. Harold Stiles officiating. Burial in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Norris West, Herbert Nix, Samuel Davis, Verlin Ledford, Butch Graham, and Donnie Rhodes. Paul Maxsween, Sam Davis, Joe Adams, Gene Stiles, Howard Johnson, Hayes Dockery, and Max Witt as honorary pallbearers.
