HAROLD G. ROPER SR.

Harold G. Roper Sr., 62, of Marble died Saturday (Dec. 22, 2007) in a Murphy medical center. A native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late John Harley and Ella Mae Passmore Roper. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Air Force. Harold was self-employed in the tool & die industry and was a member of the Andrews First Baptist Church where he had served as deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Warren Roper.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Aleen Parrish Roper; a daughter, Nora Cutshaw and husband, Scott of Shelton, WA; a son, Harold G. Roper Jr. and wife, Teresa of Marble; four brothers, Harley Gentry Roper of Kernersville, NC, Paul Buster Roper of Winston Salem, NC, and Roy Joel Roper and Kenneth Monroe Roper both of Topton; and five grandchildren, Megan Cutshaw, Kristen and Matthew Roper, and Courtney and Cullen Toole.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Thursday (Dec. 27) in the Andrews First Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Lunsford officiating. Interment in Red Marble Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers: Charles and Andrew Bateman, Danny Moore, Keith Wood, Harlace Sealy, and Robert Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 Thursday afternoon at the Andrews First Baptist Church prior to the services.
