JAMES HARVEY MULKEY

James Harvey Mulkey, 91, of Cary, NC, formerly of Andrews, died Monday (February 6, 2006) at Hartfields Assisted Living in Cary. He was a native of Cherokee County where he had lived until moving to Cary three years ago. He was the son of the late Harve Lee and Alice O’Dell Mulkey and the husband of the late Frances Wilson Mulkey, who died Dec. 21, 1989. James was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Mars Hill College. He was a retired control room operator for TVA having worked at Fontana, Hiwassee, and Chatuge Dams. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge # 529, the Andrews Sunshine Club, and the Andrews First Baptist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Joyce Lynn of Carolina Beach, NC; one son, Jim Mulkey and wife, Barbara of Cary; three sisters, Billie Rogers of Andrews, and Margaret Johnson and Betty Hines both of Rock Hill, SC; and three grandchildren, Tina, David, and Allison Mulkey.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Revs. Tommy Lamb and Eddie Hardin officiating. Burial in the Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers: Boyd Alan Rogers, Whitney Hines, Howard Green, Tim Rogers, and Jeff and Jim Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 Friday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.
