JOHN WAYNE SMITH
John Wayne Smith, 79, of Andrews died Tuesday (Feb. 28, 2006) at his residence. A native of Cherokee County, he had lived in Cleveland, TN before moving back to Andrews two years ago. He was the son of the late Warren Pearson and Lillie Pearl Truett Smith and the husband of the late Gladys Smith. John was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy. He was a retired machinist and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are one daughter, Cathy Cotton of Waxhaw, NC; two sons, Jack Smith of Tocoma, WA and Carl Smith of Clover, SC; one sister, Benniemae Prescott of Paducah, KY; one brother, Ray Smith of Andrews; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services at 3:00 PM Friday (March 3) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Rev. Tommy Lamb officiating. Inurnment in the Valleytown Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 Friday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.
