GAIL PHILLIPS

Gail Phillips, 67, of Murphy died Friday (February 23, 2007) in an Asheville hospital. She was a native of Williamsburg, KY, but had lived in Cherokee County for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Rev. John Daniel and Cora Lea Danner Moses. Gail retired after 18 years as a supervisor with Pic and Pay Shoes. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Little Glade Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Manuel J. Phillips;  a daughter, Melinda Stalcup and husband, Keith of Murphy;  three sons, Rev. Larry Phillips and wife, Gay of Mt. Airy, NC, and Mitchell Phillips and wife, Kelly and Garry Phillips all of Murphy;  a sister, Grace Moses of Murphy;  a brother, Danny Moses of Dallas, TX;  nine grandchildren, Andrea and Jonathan Kirkman of Mt. Airy, Darren Phillips of Mt. Airy, Amy Phillips of Murphy, Adam, Adria, and Alisha Coffey of Murphy,  and Kendra, Jake, and Rose Phillips of Murphy;  and a great granddaughter, Madison Brooke Kirkman of Mt. Airy.
 
Funeral services at 7:00 PM Monday (Feb. 26) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Revs. Larry Phillips, Ronnie Palmer, and Harold Stiles officiating. Interment at 12:00 noon Tuesday (Feb. 27) in the Old Martins Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers:  Adam Coffey, Jake and Darren Phillips, Jonathan Kirkman, Steven Hall, and Clifford Rogers.
 
The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:45 Monday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
 
The family requests memorials be made in memory of Gail Phillips to the Old Martins Creek Cemetery Fund, c/o Billy Stiles, 2299 Martins Creek Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
