TRULEY ODOM

Truley Odom, 99, of Murphy died Thursday (Feb. 15, 2007) in a Murphy medical center. A native of Clay County, she had been living in Cherokee County since 1948. She was the daughter of the late Bert and Callie Day Ledford and the wife of the late Clinton Dewey Odom, who died Sept 1, 1949. Truley was a homemaker and a member of the New Martins Creek Baptist Church. Her favorite thing to do was to go to church but she also enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, and cooking.
Surviving are five daughters, Lucille Crisp, Pauline Anderson and husband, Emory, and Opal Bates and husband, Ronnie all of Murphy, Monetta Kinser and husband, Ralph of Blue Ridge, GA, and Bobbie Wright of Acworth, GA; three sons, Ray Odom of Copperhill, TN, Rondall Odom and wife, Bell of New Ellington, SC, and Ed Odom and wife, Alene of Athens, TN; a sister, Gladys Postell of California; and 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 19 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Monday (Feb. 19) in the New Martins Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Hoyt Brown, Aud Brown, and Paul Ray Morgan officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Grandsons as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
