EDITH JESSIE VERNER

Edith Jessie Verner, 83, of Murphy died Friday (Feb. 22, 2008) in a Polk County, TN care center. A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late George and Lucy Blanche Allen Hedrick and the wife of the late Howard L. Verner, who died Dec. 16, 2007. She was a homemaker and a member of the Farner, TN Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening and was an excellent seamstress. Edith was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Jackson, and Geneva Shelton; and three brothers, Mayford Hedrick, Ken Hedrick, and Ed Hedrick.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Ledford and husband, Billy Ray and Barbara Bryant and husband, James all of Murphy; a brother, Frank Hedrick of Murphy; a half-sister, Ann Steele of Hampton, FL; two half-brothers, Charles Hedrick of Comanche, OK and George Hedrick Jr. of Isabella, TN; three grandchildren, Brian Ledford and wife, Kelly of Mineral Bluff, GA, Jamie Rodriguez and husband, Brian of Winder, GA, and Heather Lepper and husband, Cory of Minnetonka, MN; and a great granddaughter, Abbie Ledford.
Funeral services at 11:00 AM Monday (Feb. 25) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Rev. Gary Aven officiating. Interment in the Farner Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jimmy Payne, Robert Coffey, Kent Payne, Ray Dean, Lawrence Hyatt, and Ronnie Williamson. Nephews and J.M. Verner, Jess Loudermilk, and Fred Verner will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
