CHARLES P. FOXWORTHY
Charles P. Foxworthy, 84, of Murphy died Saturday (January 7, 2006) at his residence. A native of Crawfordsville, IN, he had lived in Ft. Myers, FL before moving to Murphy in 1987. He was the son of the late Charles Paul, Sr. and Bertha S. Walden Foxworthy. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Marine Corp in the Pacific Theatre as a paratrooper. He was owner and operator of Reliable Abstract and Title Company, retiring in 1979 after 29 years of service. He had been a former member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion, and the Danville, IL Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Murphy First Baptist Church. His hobbies included camping, hiking, fishing, and carving.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Jean Groendyke Foxworthy; two daughters, Mary L. Hatfield of Palm Springs, FL and Dana J. Mace of Asheville, NC; two sons, Tony Foxworthy of Wrentham, MA and John C. Foxworthy of Maryville, TN; a sister, Ailene Koons of Rising Sun, IN; and four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Memorial services at 3:00 PM Sunday (January 15) in the Murphy First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Phillips officiating. Inurnment in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Charles P. Foxworthy to the Murphy First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 7, Murphy, NC 28906.
