DAVID T. BEVINS
David T. Bevins, 78, of Marble died Sunday (January 29, 2006) in an Andrews care facility. A native of Wise County, VA, he had been living in Cherokee County since 1968. He was the son of the late Samuel Walker and Julie Belle Bice Bevins. He had served in the US Army and the US Air Force. Early in his life, he worked in the shipyards in Baltimore, MD and later, he worked in road construction and retired as a school bus driver for Cherokee County. David attended the Andrews Church of God.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Frances Jones Bevins; three daughters, Janice Lunsford of Andrews, Phyllis Stalcup of Murphy, and Carolyn Bevins of Marble; two sons, Ronnie Bevins and Jess Bevins and wife, Bonnie all of Marble; a sister, Christine Piercy of Oraville, GA; and 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday (February 1, 2006) in the Andrews Church of God with the Revs. Bill Coble, Kirk Ledford, and Jack Simonds officiating. Burial in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers: Levi Stalcup, Ryan Bevins, Tim Wood, Kyle Hunsucker, Ed Green, and Barry Jones.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the Andrews Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of David T. Bevins to the Andrews Church of God Bus Fund, 517 Aquone Road, Andrews, NC 28901.
