Ethel Marie Mintz, 75, Andrews died Thursday (January 5, 2006) in a Murphy hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Talmadge and Ethel Marie Palmer Watts. She had worked for Owenby Manufacturing and later in life, she retired from Lee Company. She was a member of the Andrews First Baptist Church where she had taught Toddlers Sunday School for 45 years. She loved homemaking and particularly cooking.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Jack Mintz; one daughter, Karla Orton and husband, Steve of Murphy; two sons, Steve Mintz and wife, Joan of Andrews and Mark Mintz and wife, Laurie of Marble; two sisters, Winnie Moss of Hayesville and Lillian Coffey of Flowery Branch, GA; eight grandchildren, Craig Mintz and wife, Jessica, Melanie Mintz, Justin Mintz, Shanna Mustin and husband, Matt, Brittany Coleman and husband, Steve, Zachary Orton, Rogan Orton, and Jared Orton; and a great grandson, Luke Mintz.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Saturday (January 7) in the Andrews First Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Lamb and Rev. Craig Mintz officiating. Burial in Moss Cemetery. Pallbearers: Justin Mintz, Zachary, Rogan, and Jared Orton, Matt Mustin, and Steve Coleman Jr.
The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 Saturday afternoon at the Andrews First Baptist Church prior to the services.
The family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Ethel Marie Mintz to any of the school libraries of Andrews.
