Lucille Curtis

Lucille Curtis, 91, of Hayesville died Sunday (January 29, 2006) in a Clay County care center. A native of Clay County, she was the daughter of the late R.O. and Georgia Sanderson Smith and the wife of the late Tillman R. Curtis, who died in 1970. In her early years, she taught school at Sweetwater Elementary School and later became a homemaker. She was a member of the Sweetwater United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities. Lucille had been active in the Hayesville Home Demonstration Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Curtis of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services at 2:00 PM Wednesday (February 1) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Michael Binger officiating. Burial in Sweetwater United Methodist Church Cemetery. Nephews as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.

The family requests memorials be made in memory of Lucille Curtis to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, Mountain Region Office, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644.
