NANCY McCRAY
Nancy McCray, 54, of Hayesville died Tuesday (January 17, 2006) at her residence. A native of Cherokee County, she had lived in Clay County for the past 33 years. She was the daughter of the late John Hardy and Mary McAbee Haigler and the wife of the late Charles Leon McCray, who died June 21, 2003. She was employed at Baker Furniture in Andrews for 11 years and was a member of the Fires Creek Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lynn Haigler and Eva Lou Kyle; and two brothers, Johnny Haigler and Randy Haigler.
Surviving are a son, Anthony McCray and wife, Tina of Marble; five sisters, Mary Brank of Marble, Peggy Jean Hughes, Patsy Gladson, and Sue Chastain all of Murphy, and Helen Lovingood of Andrews; and four grandchildren, William, Gilbert, Larry, and Elijah McCray.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Friday (Jan. 20) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Revs. Aud Brown and Fred Lunsford officiating. Burial in Fires Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jerry, Terry, and Gary Gladson, Stacy Hughes, Benny Kirby, and Tony Lands.
The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 Friday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Nancy McCray to the Fires Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 239 Brendle Cove Lane, Hayesville, NC 28904.
