LIZZIE “JACKIE” WOODHOUSE DOZIER SHERRILL

Lizzie “Jackie” Woodhouse Dozier Sherrill, 88, of Andrews died Thursday (January 4, 2007) at her residence. A native of Virginia Beach, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Lynwood and Alice Virginia Woodhouse Dozier and the wife of the late Paul P. Sherrill, Sr. She attended Brevard Junior College and received a teaching degree from Madison College in Virginia. She married Paul P. Sherrill on April 5, 1942 and became a career military wife. The United States Coast Guard moved them all over the United States before they retired to Paul’s hometown of Andrews in 1976. She was still teaching Sunday school, and was active in United Methodist Women, Meals on Wheels, and the food pantry. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Virginia Beach Chapter.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Gail Sandstrom and husband, Craig of Holyoke, CO;  a son, Paul P. Sherrill, Jr. and wife, Dayle K. of Denver, CO;  and five grandchildren, Bob, Sherrill,  and Andrew Sandstrom, and Jordan and Katelyn Sherrill.
 
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Sunday (Jan. 14) in the Andrews United Methodist Church with Revs. Harry Hawk and John Davis officiating. Interment in the Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers:  Terry, Maurice, Scott, Chad, and Chris Sherrill, and Grant Brekke.
 
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
 
The family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Lizzie Sherrill to the Andrews United Methodist Building Fund or to the Andrews United Methodist Women, PO Drawer 1310, Andrews, NC 28901.
