MARTHA ANN SMITH

Martha Ann Smith, 62, of Murphy died Sunday (January 20, 2008) in a Henderson County care facility.  A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late J.C. and Josephine Moore Smith. Martha was an employee of Shoe Booties Cafe and was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Murphy.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Allen and Fannie Brown;  and a brother, Thomas E. Smith.

Surviving are a son, Paul Douglas Smith of Murphy;  three sisters, Diane Smith and Margaret Colbert both of Murphy, and Elizabeth Ann Smith of Andrews;  four brothers, James T. Smith and Ray Van Smith both of Murphy, Andy Smith of Andrews, and Bobby Smith of Asheville, NC;  and three grandchildren, Decembra and Kadeeja Patterson, and Hannah Smith.
 
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Wednesday (Jan. 23) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Bruce Oliver officiating. Interment in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy.  Pallbearers:  Preston and John Allen, Reggie Cox, Jeffrey and Anthony Smith, and Eddie Ellis.
 
The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 Wednesday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
