SALLIE TRANTHAM

Sallie Trantham, 96, of Andrews died Monday (Jan. 7, 2008) in an Andrews care facility. A native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Hassie Totherow Postell and the wife of the late Lawson M. Trantham, who died Nov. 26, 1985. Sallie was a retired employee of Berkshire and was a member of the Red Marble Baptist Church where she had served as the Adult Women’s Sunday School teacher for many years.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lassie Derreberry; and two brothers, Vincent and Rev. Ralph Postell.
Surviving are two daughters, Marvie Raxter and Louise Phillips both of Andrews; three sons, Howard Trantham of New Hudson, MI, L.M. Trantham of Rising Sun, MD, and Billy Trantham of Dearborn Heights, MI; three brothers, Rev. France Postell and Arlen Postell both of Andrews, and Alex Postell of Gastonia, NC; a step-sister, Bobbie Redding of Gastonia; and ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Friday (Jan. 11) in the Red Marble Baptist Church with the Revs. Mickey Stewart, Donald Colvard, and Tommy Lamb officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Boyd Trantham, Nick Adams, Larry Phillips, Terry Trantham, David Postell, and Pearly Owenby. Honorary pallbearer: grandson, Scott Adams.
The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 Friday afternoon at the Red Marble Baptist Church prior to the services.
