ANNA MAE DEWEESE


 

Anna Mae Deweese, 89, of Murphy died Thursday (July 26, 2007) in a Murphy nursing home.  A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late J.M. and Ethel Lovingood Ramsey and the wife of the late Verlin Jones, who died in 1961 and Burley Deweese, who died in 1978.  She had been a secretary with the Cherokee County Extension Office for several years and was a member of the Murphy First Baptist Church.
 
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Heeth and husband, Julian of Gainesville, GA;  two sisters, Gwendolyn Newberry of Marietta, GA and Grace Hampton of Murphy;  a brother, Billy Ray Ramsey of Marietta;  two grandchildren, Dustin Heeth and Julian Heeth IV;  and a great grandson, Bryton Heeth.
 
Funeral services at 1:00 PM Saturday (July 28) in the Murphy First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Edwards officiating and Dan Wilcox delivering the eulogy. Interment in Sunset Cemetery.   Pallbearers:  Roy Sneed, Jerry Bauguss, Harold Johnson, Jack Earley, Eddis Dockery, and Buddy Burch.  Honorary pallbearers: Bill Hughes, Ken Thigpen, and Max O’Dell.
 
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Anna Mae Deweese to the Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home, c/o Activities Department, 4130 US Highway 64 East, Murphy, NC 28906.
