CLAUDE “Red” DAVIDSON

Claude “Red” Davidson, 77, of Murphy died Thursday (July 26, 2007) in a Murphy hospital. A native of Chavies, KY, he had lived in the Murphy area since 1995. He was the son of the late Ora and Drucilla Spencer Davidson. Claude had served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an excavating contractor in Ohio, a commercial contractor in Tampa, FL, and the developer of Chestnut Oaks in Murphy. He attended the Murphy First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Rene Davidson White; and a son, Bruce Allan Davidson.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Whiteaker Davidson; three daughters, Claudette “Coco” Davidson of Murphy, Tami Lee Herring and husband, Kenneth of Tampa, and DeAnne Janilla Jerry and husband, Chuck of Plant City, FL; a sister, Mary Lou Farris of Cincinnati, OH; two brothers, Frank and Glenn Davidson both of Cincinnati; and eight grandchildren, Maggie, Jackie, and Carlie Davidson, Cody and Sarah White, Ally Herring, and Wesley and Jenna Knepper.
Funeral services at 3:00 PM Monday (July 30) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Glenn Davidson officiating. Interment in Suit Cemetery. Pallbearers: Chuck Jerry, Ken Herring, Mike Hargis, Ken White, Jerry Ware, and Johnny Burdine.
The family will receive friends from 2-2:45 Monday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Claude “Red” Davidson to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095.
