EDITH LOVINGOOD

Edith Lovingood, 96, of Max Meadows, VA, formerly of Murphy, died Friday (July 6, 2007) in a Wythe County, VA hospital. She was a native of Cherokee County, but had been living in Max Meadows for the past eight years. She was the daughter of the late Abel and Pearl McDonald Palmer and the wife of the late Wade H. Lovingood, who died February 13, 1995. Edith was a retired CNA with the Providence Hospital and was a member of the Grandview Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Jack T. and Ed Lovingood.
 
Surviving are two daughters, Alice Chastain and husband, Jimmy and Anne Wells and husband, Hubert all of Murphy;  five sons, Dr. Bill W. Lovingood and wife, Salley of Chapel Hill, NC, and Charles Lovingood and wife, Pat, Bob Lovingood and wife, Brenda, Dan Lovingood and wife, Darlene, and Johnny Lovingood all of Max Meadows, VA; a sister, Carrie Kephart of Murphy;  and 21 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services at 3:00 PM Monday (July 9) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Revs. Aud Brown, Lawrence English, Calvin Murphy, and Mike Ingo officiating. Interment in the Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers:  Joe, John, David, Wayne, and Nathan Lovingood, and Jonathan Wells. Honorary pallbearers:  Brian Wells, and Brian, Michael, Al, Lee, and James Lovingood.
 
The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 Monday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made in loving memory of Edith Lovingood to the Industrial Opportunities, Inc., PO Box 1649, Andrews, NC 28901.
