HAYES HENRY DOCKERY JR.
 

Hayes Henry Dockery Jr., 75, of Murphy died Tuesday (July 31, 2007) in a Murphy medical center.  A native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Hayes Henry Dockery Sr. and Mae McDonald Dockery.  For many years, he was owner and operator of Dockery Monument Company and later started Dockery Land Company. Hayes was a member of the Murphy First Baptist Church.  He was one of the original organizers and charter member of the Cherokee County Rescue Squad and had been an active member of the Woodmen of the World.
 
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Dockery.
 
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Betty Jones Dockery;  a sister, Alice Jane Palmer of Murphy; a brother, Jack Dockery of Hyde Park, NY;  and several nieces and nephews.
 
Memorial services at 2:00 PM Saturday (Aug. 4) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Revs. Rick Edwards and Ricky Rogers officiating.  Inurnment in Sunset Cemetery.
 
The family will receive friends from 1-1:50 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Hayes Henry Dockery Jr. to the Murphy First Baptist Church Television Ministry, PO Box 7, Murphy, NC 28906.
