RUSH WALTON BONDURANT
Rush Walton Bondurant, 75, of Murphy died Saturday (July 28, 2007) at his residence. He was a native of Norfolk, VA, but had moved to Murphy from Germantown, TN ten years ago. He was the son of the late Rush Walton and Gladys Virginia Coburn Bondurant. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard serving in the Korean War. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University with a BS Degree in chemical engineering. Rush had a long and successful career in the paper industry and retired from International Paper. Rush was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Carolyn Leggett Bondurant; three daughters, Carolyn B. Miller and husband, Ralph of Clemmons, NC, Betsy Myers and husband, Dave of St. Simons Island, GA, and Tish Fasola of Marietta, GA; a step-sister, Julia McLanhorn of Greenville, NC; a step-brother, Edward Laughinghouse of Taylors, SC; and nine grandchildren and a great grandson.
Memorial services at 4:00 PM Sunday (July 29) in the Harshaw Chapel with Rev. George Yates officiating. An inurnment service will be held at a later date in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Williamston, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made in loving memory of Rush Walton Bondurant to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 86, Murphy, NC 28906 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, Mountain Regional Office, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644.
