ROBERT EUGENE “Gene” FARMER

Robert Eugene “Gene” Farmer, 60, of Beech Island, SC, formerly of Cherokee County, died Wednesday (July 18, 2007) in an Augusta, GA hospital. A native of Cherokee County, he had lived in South Carolina since 1984. He was the son of the late Robert Lee Farmer. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Army. For several years, he was a mechanic for Farmer’s Garage and worked for Beam’s Paving and Construction Company in Beech Island. Gene was a member of the Maltby Baptist Church. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Donna Woods Farmer; a daughter, Lisa Randolph and husband, Glenn of Warrenville, SC; a son, Michael Farmer of the home; his mother, Pauline Pack Farmer of Marble; two sisters, Linda Curtis and husband, Tommy of Beech Island and Brenda Goff and husband, Don of North Augusta, SC; three brothers, Paul Farmer and wife, Shelly and Mark Farmer and wife, Tammy all of Murphy, and Brian Farmer and wife, Debbie of Marble; three grandchildren, Wendi, Amy, and Krissi Randolph; and his mother-in-law, Mildred Woods of Murphy.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Saturday (July 21, 2007) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Hubert Clark officiating. Interment in the Tomotla Community Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73, VFW Post 10222, and Hayesville VFW Post 6812 (Allison-Bristol). Pallbearers: Ryan Self, Greg Worley, Dustin Farmer, Jonah Johnson, Eric Goff, and Paul Roberson. Honorary pallbearers: Phil Craig and James Haffly.
The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Robert Eugene “Gene” Farmer to the Tomotla Community Cemetery Fund, c/o Alene Keener, 297 Hayes Road, Marble, NC 28905.
