HENRY TIMOTHY “TIM” TIKKANEN

Henry Timothy “Tim” Tikkanen, 67, of Murphy died Tuesday (July 3, 2007) in a Murphy medical center. He was a native of New Orleans, LA, but had lived in this area since 1991. He was the son of the late Henry and Irma Read Tikkanen. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Air Force. In his early years Tim taught high school and later in life worked and retired as a Golf Pro. He was of the Episcopalian faith. He loved golf and enjoyed all types of auto racing.

Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Beverly Haight Tikkanen; a daughter, Frances H. Velez of Gilbert, AZ; a son, James Henry Holloran of Stuart, FL; two step-daughters, Paige Costner of Anaheim, CA, and Stacey Devine of Woodward, OK; three step-sons, Sean Farr of Murphy, Michael Farr of Claremont, NH, and Bruce Farr of Colorado Springs, CO; and four grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren.

A private memorial service was held at 2:00 PM Friday (July 6) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Rev. John Burns officiating..

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials may be made in loving memory of Tim Tikkanen to the American Cancer Society, Cherokee County Chapter, PO Box 1151, Murphy, NC 28906.
