JULIA F. "GRANNY" PAYNE

Julia F. "Granny" Payne, 92, of Marble died Friday, June 11, 2004 in an Andrews care facility. A native of Swain County, she had lived in Cherokee County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Mary Watkins Stiles and the wife of the late Fred W. Payne, who died August 15, 1970. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Hyatts Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Lois E. Payne, who died January 18, 1992 and an infant daughter, Roberta Payne.

Surviving are four daughters, Geneva Gibby and her husband, Earl of Andrews, Betty Wilson and her husband, Jimmy of Marble, Virgie Rowland of Marble, and Linda Rowland of Winder, GA; three sons, Larry Payne and his wife, Dorothy of Andrews, Jack Payne and his wife, Coleen of Marble, and Ralph Payne and his wife, Christine of Andrews; 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren; and a special caregiver, Ida Sue Rowland.

Funeral services 2:00 PM Monday (June 14) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Revs. Lewis Welch and Mark McLain officiating. Burial in the Moss Cemetery. Grandsons as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 Monday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home in Andrews prior to the services.
