VIRGINIA RUTH HIGDON
Virginia Ruth Higdon, 85, of Andrews died Monday (June 12, 2006) in a Clay County care center with her family by her side. A native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late Thurman and Verdie Queen Earwood and the wife of the late Charles E. Higdon, who died April 25, 1995. She was a homemaker and a member of the Andrews First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Thurman Higdon and a great granddaughter, Cassidy Higdon.
Surviving are three sons, Charles R. “Dick” Higdon and wife, Jackie and David Horace Higdon and wife, Meredith all of Andrews, and Gary B. Higdon and wife, Joan of Murphy; and eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Wednesday (June 14) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Revs. Bobby Wright and Dwayne Anders officiating. Burial in the Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers: John, Jim, Anthony, Steven, and Chad Higdon, and Austin Walls. Michael Higdon, Eric Rodriguez, and Jamie Bateman as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Virginia Ruth Higdon to the Andrews First Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 427, Andrews, NC 28901.
